Have you ever wondered why a blog is called a blog? It's a relatively new term which began as a combination of web + log  because it was making an entry on the web. According to the web, it is "a shortened form of "weblog," a term coined in 1997 by Jorn Barger to describe the act of "logging the web"—keeping a running log or journal of links and commentary on the internet. Eventually, it got shortened to simply blog. It's a new name for a diary or a journal or notebook. It can be used as a noun as in a blog or a blogger or a verb as to blog. I wonder if "He thought of her bloggingly " would catch on. That's an adverb by the way.
